ABOUT GRANT WIND
The Grant Wind project provides an opportunity to help address Oklahoma's growing electricity demand with clean, homegrown energy, while diversifying Grant County's economy and supporting jobs in the local community.
Apex Clean Energy of Charlottesville, Virginia, is actively developing Grant Wind, which is expected to generate enough energy to power about 56,000 homes annually.
Located in rural Grant County, adjacent to existing transmission lines on private land, the area under consideration is suitable for a wind energy project based on local wind data and these attributes:
- Verified wind resource
- Existing high-voltage power lines
- Expansive private land
- Proximity to state highways
Apex is working to engage state and local stakeholders to ensure your questions are answered. This website includes information about wind energy, Grant Wind, and important upcoming events. AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR GRANT COUNTY
Grant Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for local schools, government services, and property owners. The total direct financial impact to the region is likely to be in the millions of dollars over about 30 years, with additional indirect economic benefits greatly exceeding that number.
Revenue from this project would inject millions of dollars into Grant County’s economy to support local merchants, contractors, and equipment suppliers. The power from Grant Wind will be delivered into the regional electrical grid, helping to diversify Oklahoma's energy portfolio.
